On June 4th we were hit with a crazy wind storm. The news said we had only 50 to 60 mph winds which is a norm here in Twin Falls but there were "hot pockets" that reached up to at least 80. It was the strongest wind storm we have ever had and a little bit scary. As you can tell by the pictures our yard took a beating. One of our 100 year old trees blew over and is now resting against the other and the yard is covered in tree limbs, branches and twigs. Last year in June, if you recall we had one of our other trees get struck by lightning. Two years in a row, probably good we won't be here next June to see if anything else happens.
The tree is still somewhat attached to the ground so unfortunately half of it is dieing. Who knows what we are going to do with it. Hopefully we wont have to worry about it before we move. But we are sad that the beautiful tree has been tipped over.
Our metal porch swing flew into the side of our house breaking our kitchen window. Luckily it only broke one of the pains of glass.
A branch from the first tree broke off and landed in the drive way. It blocked the road completely and the only way to drive through was on the grass. Luckily we didn't have to do that for too long, Taylor was able to cut it up and move it over too the side out of the way.
It was a crazy storm and we are so blessed to have been kept safe inside. The people back in 1908 sure knew how to build a house. Hopefully it will hold out for another 4 months or so until we get into our new one. :-) This is just one more adventure to add to our pile of stories of living on the farm.
