Working on the Farm

Since we are living out in "Hickville" we thought that we would try our hand at farming. The property that our house sits on is 40 acres with thirty-three of those acres being farmable. Twenty-two of the 33 was previously planted in alfalfa which returns each year. The back 11 was planted in beans last year so we were needing to plant something there. We decided to plant alfalfa to match the rest of the property. After a few evenings of making calls we found local farmers that would take care of all of the steps, at a price of coarse.

This is not actually Taylor out on the tractor although he really wishes it was. We are having the alfalfa corrugated which is basically cleaning out the rows so we can irrigate.
Taylor is getting the irrigation pipes ready for when we start irrigating.Kaitlyn wanted to come out and help Taylor out with some of the farm work.We tried to get a picture of Kaitlyn on the tractor, but the engine was too loud and scary for her. As you can tell she is trying to run away.

Well that looks like some fun!!! I wish that we lived closer so we could come help on the farm. It's looking good. I think that I should have bought Kaitlyn a pair of cowgirl boots for her birthday. She would look so cute!

Cute! You know, lots of youngish couples do interesting things while they are young and don't have too many kids. But i can honestly say you two are the only ones i know who are farming. I think Brian is WAY jealous. me too. To have Brian home more would be so fun. Yeah for the farm!
