Kaitlyn's First Birthday

We celebrated Kaitlyn's first birthday this last weekend. We had family from Utah and Washington travel up for the weekend. Unfortunately the weather wasn't very cooperative so we spent most of it indoors.Friday night Taylor took the kids out and made a rip roaring fireWhile the fire was occupying everyone I took my hand at cake decorating. With a few tips here and there from my Mom, Natalie and Marilyn I was pretty pleased with how the cake turned out, especially since it was my first time decorating. On Saturday we had Kaitlyn's party. Shirley and Alvin, Buzz and Hannah, and Grandpa and Jaimee came up for the party as well. We had about 20 people there ready to celebrate. Kaitlyn really enjoyed the idea of having everyone's attention on her. Once she got the hang of it she loved opening the presents. She got a bunch of summer outfits and some fun books and toys. Getting ready to sing "Happy Birthday"
Yummy cake!! It took her a little bit to warm up to the idea but once she tasted the frosting she enjoyed every bite.Walking around with Great Grandpa WeitzeilKaitlyn received a lot of fun gifts and had a great time but we had one last gift to give her.
It was our clever way of announcing our exciting news! That's right baby number 2 is on it's way. We are due October 24th.

Happy Birthday, Kaitlyn. We are so sad that we had to miss such an amazing memory for every parent with their first baby's first birthday (did that make sense>). Anyway, we are so happy we can share the memory with you through pictures. Congrats on the big news! Also, the cake looked FANTASTIC - great job, Stephanie. Hope to see you soon.
