Saturday was a crazy day for both of us. We underestimated the amount of time it would take for us to get to Burley from our house and for some reason we didn't think of leaving Taylor's helmet and shoes with his bike the night before. So, Taylor left around 5:50 am to drop off his gear before his heat started at 7:05. The kids and I left at 6:15 am, we thought it would take us 30 minutes to get there. Unfortunately it was 45 minutes plus they changed the bike route so the road was blocked off and we had to park 1 mile away from the starting line. There was no way we would make it in time, I parked the car and it was 7:00. I was devastated that I wouldn't get to see Taylor off on his swim or get to take pictures of him swimming along. I hurried and called him to wish him good luck and that we would look for him on the bike portion of the race. He told me that when he got to his bike it was 6:45 and there was crazy amounts of traffic. He ended up parking his truck at the bike station and ran the mile to the starting line. Later I found out that as he placed his running gear down the "gun " went off to start his heat. Again he ran as fast as he could and dove into the water.
Last year we had family in town to help with the girls and watch the race. This year it was just me and the girls and a 4 week old baby fighting the heat, traffic, and crowds. Because of where we had to park the car, the bike route went right past us. We loaded the stroller up and waited on the side of the road to see Taylor come by. Unfortunately, being a dedicated photographer when you have two little girls running around distracting you it made it difficult for getting good pictures. Taylor came up on us before I could really be ready so the pictures are more blurred than anything, but we were excited that we got to see him. He looked like he was doing good and had lots of energy after a mile run and a mile swim
While we were waiting for Taylor to come in on his bike we ate our breakfast and the girls played around on the grass. Luckily, it was an overcast day and it wasn't just crazy hot out. The girls were great troopers to half to walk as far as they did but they had fun cheering for their Dad as he road by.
We waited at the finish line for Taylor to cross. By the time Taylor crossed I was holding Brayden to keep him from crying, the girls were fussing and ready to go home and there were crazy amounts of people around the finish line, needless to say, I didn't get a picture of him crossing the line. (I kind of failed in the photography side of things this time.)

Stretching out with DadOverall it was a good day and Taylor did a great job! Final stats Here
